Narok Womans Shelter

Dada Designs Womans Shelter in Narok, Kenya

At DadaDesigns we have a mission to open up a Womans Shelter in Narok Kenya for Maasai women to have a safe place to live while they are looking for a job. Many Maasai women make it through the various Safe House programs within the county (supporting and rescuing young Maasai girls who escape their families practice of FMG and early childhood marriage), finish highschool and even manage to be awarded funding for college or trade school, This is an incredible accomplishment! However, due to the economy of the country as well as dynamics of the culture, it can often take these talented young women up to three years to land a secure and supportive job. Because of this many of them succumb to the pressure of marriage before they would otherwise choose to. We want to help them.

At Dada for Dada Kikwetu Women’s Shelter we aim for a three tiered approach to support:

Providing a safe place to live, with basic needs provided: food, shelter, community.

Providing a supportive path forward: Job placement coaches, funding to attend interviews, additional certifications if needed.

Providing meaning and value: offer pay for beadwork to support the shelter and their other sisters.

We are in the process of raising funds to purchase the land and begin building the dormitory. Please reach out to see how you can get involved or to purchase our products and support our mission.
